No Sunlight? No Problem!
This week I’m showing you how to plant up a container that will fit perfectly in that one difficult shady spot in the corner of the garden. Lots of your summer superstar plants love a bright, warm spot, but that doesn't mean you cant get the dingy corners looking fantastic this summer too!
What plants should I use?
There are loads of plants that can thrive in full or partial shade, so some of this is down to personal preference. In the example container I plant in the video below I used a mixture of Coleus, Heuchera, Begonia, and Astilbe. These are all great options, and we have a range of each on our website, but if you're looking for other recommendations feel free to reach out to our social media!
What You’ll Need:
-
A container
-
A variety of shade-friendly plants
- Compost
Step-by-Step:
- Fill your container with compost so that your largest plant sits at the right height.
- Place your plants into the container in reverse size order, filling in the compost to give the smaller ones the extra height needed.
- Fill in the gaps in the compost and give the container a good water
Aftercare:
Keep the plants watered, although don't overwater them, and ensure they can drain efficiently. Using a mixture of varied-height plants will give the container a more natural look, but remember they will all grow so don't worry if you have some gaps to begin with.
