5 Minute Friday - Deadheading Fuchsias

Deadhead Your Fuchsias To Get Extra Flowers For Free!

This week I’m showing you how to deadhead Fuchsias to help encourage new growth, offering you extra flowers for only a few minutes work!

Why deadhead?

Deadheading any flowering plant is important for encouraging new growth and increasing the production of flowers during the blooming season. If you've got fuchsia plants, whether in pots, planters, or hanging baskets, regularly deadheading them will help give them the strength they need to continuously produce buds for an unbeatable cascade of flowers all summer!

What You’ll Need:

  • A fuchsia plant

  • Your hand

Step-by-Step:

  1. Find the dead flowers you want to remove
  2. Take your thumb and finger and pinch the flower between them
  3. Using your nail if necessary, pull the flower away from the plant
  4. Repeat this the whole way around, removing all the dead flower heads
  5. Check the plant every few days as flowers can go over surprisingly quickly!

Aftercare:

Keep checking the plant regularly, and keep caring for it how you regularly would! Doing this will mean you'll be enjoying more flowers all summer!
