EP233 - How to take cuttings from French Tarragon

On Todays 5minute Friday, we are going to show you how to take cuttings from French Tarragon.

It is a really good time of year to take cuttings from French Tarragon, in the spring you may get them to take a bit easier, but I know a lot of you struggle to take French Tarragon through the winter, so this is like a back up plan.

At home we have a few go to recipes with Tarragon, one of our favourites is: Tarragon Salad Dressing, perfect for drizzling over salads, new potatoes, chicken or fish.

5 minute salad dressing – Olive Oil, Lemon Juice, Dijon Mustard, Honey, salt & pepper and add tarragon after whisking. Mmmmm delicious.

  1. Fill the pot with a good well drained, multipurpose compost, just shy from the top.
  2. We are going to take a tip cutting, which is nice and easy to do. Snip the main stem, just above the leaf node. Snip any low leaves, so you have a nice clean stem,
  3. We don’t want to bruise the stem, so make a hole, bigger than you need, then gently place the cutting in, and very gently tuck it in.
  4. Give it a good watering, you can’t really over water at this stage. Then pop it on a windowsill and soon enough it will start rooting.
