Should you cover your cuttings?
It's difficult to know whether or not your cuttings want to be covered while they're establishing themselves. There's no obvious answer, some plants want a more humid environment (for example Fuchsias which originate from South America) whereas others like a drier environment (like Geraniums which originate from South Africa.)
It's all about origins
The easiest way to think about it is: "where do my plants come from?" Using Fuchsias and Geraniums as examples, Fuchsias come from South America and are evolved to thrive in a more humid environment, therefore they want to be covered. Compare this to Geraniums which originate from South Africa, a much drier environment, which has led to them being better off in drier environments with more free flowing air.
