Chilli Pimento de Padron Plant
A very popular chilli variety that is sometimes known as the "Russian Roulette" chilli. The fruit is very popular in Spain, where it is used in tapas dishes. Often picked immature and green, the fruit will mainly have little, or no heat, but around 1 in 8 will pack a punch of heat.
1/10 most of the time 5/10 occasionally.
Medium sized fruit that will be around 6cm in length and 2-3cm wide
Fantastic added to a dry pan where they will slightly blister. Simply add a bit of salt and enjoy on their own. Can also be added to cooking or salads.
Ideal for container or pot?
Grows well in a pot but not ideal in a very small space, a little to big for a windowsill, as it will grow to 60cm in height and spread 35cm
Is this plant "garden ready"?
As with all Chilli plants they love the heat. This is especially true when they are young. All Chilli starter plants should be grown on the windowsill or a greenhouse until they are established and the weather is warm.
What compost should I use?
A good quality multipurpose compost is ideal for this. You can use your own compost but make sure you know that it is not too high (or low) in nutrients.
What is a plug plant/starter plant?
A plug plant is a small starter plant that is perfect to pot up into a larger plant. We grow and sell so many of these because they allow us to do it for such a good price.
Will I get the plants in the picture?
Yes, In the main picture. As this plant is a starter plant it will not be fruiting but will grow to be the same as the picture. The plug (starter) plant picture is used to give you an idea of the size and may not be exactly the same plant.
