    Echinacea Collection – 6 Different Plants - Plant information

    Size: Expected height 50-60 cm, spreading out to about 45 cm. Double-flowering varieties (e.g. “Cherry Fluff Julia”) may grow taller and wider.

    Position: Echinacea perform best in a sunny position, where they will produce their strongest growth and best flower displays.

    Plant in well-drained soil and avoid positions that remain wet for long periods, particularly through winter.

    They can tolerate some light or partial shade, but flowering is generally best when they receive plenty of sunshine.

    Feeding etc: Feeding – Echinacea generally need very little feeding when planted in good garden soil. Avoid excessive feeding, which can encourage soft growth rather than flowers.

    Pruning – Deadhead faded flowers during the flowering season if you want to encourage further blooms. Alternatively, leave some seed heads later in the year for winter structure and visiting birds.

    Propagation – Established Echinacea can be divided to produce additional plants. Division is best carried out when plants are established and actively beginning to grow.

    Care: Plant your Echinacea into well-drained soil and water thoroughly after planting.

    Keep newly planted Echinacea watered during dry periods while their root systems establish. Once established, they are relatively resilient and can cope with periods of drier weather.

    Deadheading can encourage further flowering, although leaving some spent flower heads towards the end of the season provides attractive structure and a potential food source for birds.
