Usually, on our 5 minute Friday, we plant something up, and do a follow on, but today I wanted to do this video, because hopefully very soon, we will be having a lovely summer, and not getting a huge amount of rain.
We often get asked what plants are drought tolerant, so these are some examples of plants, that can deal with dry conditions. Although we may not get a dry summer and it will I daresay, rain quite a lot, its worth noting these plants. If you have a container, it doesn't get the same water table to rely on, and they don't get rained on as much, so picking something that is drought tolerant, is well worth doing.
I have picked 3 here from the Nursery, we have the Sedum, which even to look at, you can tell it will deal with dry conditions, with it's succulent type leaf. We have Achillea, commonly known as yarrow, there are numerous types, this one is the new Vintage red, which has a really lovely flower to it, and copes well with arid conditions. Then we have a Pelargonium, and upright Geranium, which out of all the bedding plants and annuals, it copes with dry conditions, better than most.
So these are ideal, especially if you have them in containers, and then go on holiday, perhaps your neighbour will water them, but have limited time, these are ideal in that instance.
