Potting Up Plug Plants
This week I’m showing you how to pot up fuchsia plug plants in both a hanging basket and a 9cm pot.
Fuchsias will offer you a stunning array of flowers from mid-summer through to the first frosts, however, they are tender and won't deal well with colder weather. As such it may be better to plant your plugs into smaller pots now, repotting them into hanging baskets when the weather is warmer and the plants are stronger, depending on where you live.
What You’ll Need:
-
Fuchsia Plug plants
-
A Pot or Hanging Basket
- Water
- Compost
Step-by-Step:
- Start by filling your pot with compost almost to the top.
- Make a hole with a finger, just large enough to drop your plugs in.
- Drop the plugs in, there's no need to push them down.
- Fill in the gaps around the plug.
- Water and keep the plant somewhere frost free until warmer weather.
Aftercare:
Keeping your fuchsias frost free and the soil damp (not soaking!) should offer you the best chance for your plants to flower in the summer and fill your garden with stunning colour!
