Planting up a Petunia Container
This week I’m showing you how to plant up a container full of staple summer plants! Petunias are an incredibly popular choice for summer plants, and its easy to see why! They flower non-stop through the summer months, and come in a huge variety of colours and patterns.
Planting up a container with a mixture of colours adds a level of visual depth, while only requiring one type of plant, perfect for any garden!
Why Now?
This is the ideal time to organise a container as the weather is beginning to improve, meaning you'll want to start spending more time in the garden (both gardening and simply enjoying the space!) May is the ideal time to plant your Petunias in order to give them time to fully establish and thrive by the height of summer!
What You’ll Need:
-
A container
-
A variety of Petunias
- Compost
Step-by-Step:
- Fill your container with compost so that your plants sit at the right height.
- Place your plants into the container to check their placement.
- Make a few holes just a little bigger than your plants.
- Drop the plants in and tuck them in before giving them a good water.
Aftercare:
Regularly dead-heading your Petunias will encourage consistent flowering all the way through the summer. Keeping your container somewhere sunny will also ensure the plants thrive to the fullest!
