5 Minute Friday - Planting an Autumn Container

5 Minute Friday - Planting an Autumn Container

Get a head start on your Autumn gardening!

This week I’m showing you how to plan and plant up the perfect Autumn container, ready to refresh your garden once Summer ends!

Why Now?

While you don't necessarily need to get started on your container refreshing just yet, preparing a container that you can swap out when the time comes makes for less work when the garden is colder and wetter.

Plus getting your plants settled into a container now will give them the chance to begin to grow and spill over, meaning your container will be looking amazing as soon as it's placed out in the garden!

What You’ll Need:

  • A container

  • Soil

  • A selection of Autumnal plants

Step-by-Step:

  1. Fill your container up with enough soil that your plants sit at the top of the container.
  2. Plan your plant positioning, before removing the plants from their pots.
  3. Place your plants into the planned pattern and fill in the holes around them with soil
  4. Water well and let your plants get used to their new home!

Aftercare:

Water your plants regularly (especially in high heats), feed and dead-head any flowering plants, and let the plants grow ready for the Autumn!
